Segue solução para o jogo. Movido pela nóia, achei prudente:
- editar a tela do terminal
- fazer o jogo rodar até o usuário dizer chega
- checar quantas tentativas houve e dar teto de três
- checar diversas condições, como números inteiros entre 1 e 10 e afins

Realmente não gostei do IDE do instrutor, preferindo o VS Code com várias extensões. O jogo pode ser rodado ou no terminal ou no Jupyter, que ainda não entendi o que é, mas que funciona.
