The target resource does not have a current representation that would be acceptable to the user agent, according to the proactive negotiation header fields received in the request, and the server is unwilling to supply a default representation

Criei o projeto de cadastro de livros do spring, mas quando tento criar um rest retornando um json

@RestController
public class LoginController {

    @Autowired
    private LoginDAO loginDao;

    @RequestMapping(value = "/login", produces = { MediaType.APPLICATION_XML_VALUE })
    public ResponseEntity index() {
        Login login = new Login();
        login.setLogin("Suricato");
        login.setPassword("123");

        return new ResponseEntity<Login>(login, HttpStatus.OK);
    }
}

está retornando o seguinte erro no navegador:

HTTP Status [406] – [Not Acceptable]

Type Status Report

Description The target resource does not have a current representation that would be acceptable to the user agent, according to the proactive negotiation header fields received in the request, and the server is unwilling to supply a default representation.

Apache Tomcat/9.0.0.M21

        return null;
    }

    protected Class<?>[] getServletConfigClasses() {
        return new Class[] {AppWebConfiguration.class, JPAConfiguration.class};
    }

    @Override
    protected String[] getServletMappings() {
        return new String[] {"/"};

Alexandre, tudo bem ?

Cara eu por você estar usando jackson por trás dos panos, acredito que você devolver assim já deva funcionar :

@RequestMapping(value = "/login
    public Login index() {
        Login login = new Login();
        login.setLogin("Suricato");
        login.setPassword("123");

        return login;
    }
