Segui os exercícios e consegui fazê-los porém tenho um caso real e não consigo reproduzir

A minha situação real é uma máquina na AWS onde deu erro ao iniciar o ./catalina.sh jpda start Eis o log extraído do catalina.out:

O que falta para que o mesmo levante o tomcat?

Aparentemente o problema esta relacionado ou com suas variaveis de ambiente apontando a localização incorreta do Tomcat ou mesmo o Tomcat não está instalado(coisa que acho difícil).

Observe as mensagens: Ex. WARNING: Problem with directory [/usr/share/tomcat8/server], exists: [false], isDirectory: [false], canRead: [false]

Está falando que a pasta não existe...

Da uma checadinha no local de instalação do Tomcat e verifica as variaveis de ambiente.
