Configuração inicial do projeto

Estou com dificuldade para configurar o projeto, quando faço as alterações no pom.xml de acordo com o que está descrito na aula aparece a seguinte mensagem de erro:

'Updating status for Tomcat v7.0 Server at localhost...' has encoutered a problem.

An internal error occurred during: "Updating status for Tomcat v7.0 Server at localhost...". java.lang.IndexOutOfBoundsException.

O projeto tambem apresenta o seguinte erro : Description Resource Path Location Type Archive for required library: '/home/evair/.m2/repository/org/springframework/spring-core/4.1.0.RELEASE/spring-core-4.1.0.RELEASE.jar' in project 'casadocodigo' cannot be read or is not a valid ZIP file casadocodigo Build path Build Path Problem

Resolvi apagando os arquivos da pasta m2 para que fosse baixadas novamente as dependências.
